“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.”
― William Shakespeare
We all have been at that point in our life where we doubt ourselves and the one question that hits us heavily is “Did we choose the right path?” If that thought has ever come to your mind, then you are not alone. It’s okay to feel that way. We are humans after all but what’s not okay is to let it define you. We will make mistakes (lots of them) before we know what is it that we want to do the rest of our lives. But just because it took you time does not mean that you start doubting your skills, talents and worse of all, yourself. It does not make you any less.
Our past is what makes what we are today. It’s a part of us but it is what it is, “Past”. The toughest thing in the world is to take the first step towards anything and I appreciate you for your effort. If you try your hand at something and then fail, you won’t regret it because you won’t live your life wondering what it would have been like. It’s okay if you are forty-two or in your sixties and still searching for the one thing that will make you feel accomplished. We humans are greedy and not easily satisfied but when you find your passion, your love, you will simply know it. The one thing to keep in mind is to never look back because then you won’t see how far you’ve come rather how far it is still to go. I’m medical student but it wasn’t in my plans. However, I’m not sitting and wasting my time regretting of why I’m doing it rather I’m trying to make the most out of it. Sometimes, life likes to throw things at you. It gets the thrill out of it. It’s something that you can’t control but what you can do is to control how you react.
People will not always be your side, trusting you because we have big dreams and big dreams make people doubt in you. Isaac Newton discovered gravity from a falling apple. I’m pretty sure if he had told me his idea, I’d have brushed him up. However, he worked on his idea because he believed in himself. There are so many successful people whose dreams were considered bizarre but look at them living the life of your dreams.
Respect yourself and your dreams. Stop doubting yourself because no one else knows you better than you.
